Lost civilisations

Thinking about how little we leave behind... Is it possible that there were other advanced societies that existed thousands of years ago that we cannot find any evidence about? I guess this now takes on the Atlantis theme ;-).

What will we leave for the future

We can find out so much about people in the past from what they leave behind. In Egypt there are the Pyramids. Throughout Europe there are Roman villas, coins etc.

What will we leave behind for future archaeologists to find? So much of our lives are recorded electronically and many of our buildings are designed to have a limited lifetime (some as little as 30 years). We even have situations where we can't (easily) read documents we created just a few years ago because you can't get the software anymore. Can you imagine 2000 years ago as a scribe says to his Pharoh "We are going to have to update all the papyrus documents we wrote 3 years ago as PapyPress 5.2 has come out. I can't tell you what you said until the update is finished".

When was the last time you printed a digital picture?

That was a while back

So I had this great idea that I would post regularly and have lots to say. So much for that!

Maybe I should just make a fresh start at it and try again. I had so many ideas but as soon as I get in front of a screen... I guess I know how a writer feels now.
